<idAbs>Rede Hidrometeorológica Nacional é coordenada pela Agência Nacional de Águas e conta com a parceria de outras instituições federais, além de entidades estaduais para realizar o monitoramento e disponibilizar informações de diferentes parâmetros de interesse hidrológico. Com essas estações, é possível mensurar o volume de chuvas, a evaporação da água, o nível e a vazão dos rios, a quantidade de sedimentos e a qualidade das águas em estações pluviométricas, evaporimétricas, fluviométricas, sedimentométricas e de qualidade da água. A ANA opera e monitora aproximadamente 4.543 estações de monitoramento das 14.822 existentes em todo o país. Dos 12.963 mil rios brasileiros (fronteiriços e transfronteiriços) cadastrados no Sistema de Informações Hidrológicas, a Rede Hidrometeorológica Nacional monitora cerca de 2.176 (aproximadamente 17%). As informações obtidas e divulgadas, após a consistência e sistematização dos dados hidrometeorológicos, são valiosas para subsidiar a tomada de decisão para a eficiente gestão dos recursos hídricos. Servem para produzir estudos, definir políticas públicas, avaliar a disponibilidade hídrica monitorar eventos considerados críticos (cheias e estiagens), disponibilizar informações para a execução de projetos pela sociedade, identificar o potencial energético, de navegação ou de lazer em um determinado ponto ou ao longo da calha do manancial, levantar as condições dos corpos dágua para atender a projetos de irrigação ou de abastecimento público, além de serem a base para a realização de avaliações para a concessão de outorgas de direito de uso dos recursos hídricos. O registro histórico dos parâmetros monitorados também é garantido com o bom funcionamento da Rede Hidrometeorológica Nacional.</idAbs>
